17 Aug 1998 - Greenbelt festival end?
For 25 years Greenbelt has influenced a generation through its Christian based programme. Music has ranged from U2 to Goldie and from Ladysmith Black Mambazo to Cliff Richard. In its speakers and discussion, Greenbelt has never been afraid to tackle some of the most demanding issues of our time. With recently falling audiences, it appears that Greenbelt is no longer what appeals to people and "if the spirit of Greenbelt and what it means to us is to survive, it must change, as it has before, even if more dramatically. We have concluded our thinking with a decision to end the festival as we know it and begin again with a completely new approach in 1999 and onwards."

13 Aug 1998 - 19th international Christmas Rock Night 98
Christmas Rock in Ennepetal (close to Duesseldorf) was founded in 1980 and has become a 2 day-festival since 1995. Each year 15 internationally renowned bands (7 on mainstage each night), get a big reception by a very enthusiastic rock crowd of around 1500 per night. This year's line-up on December 4-5, will see return of Saviour Machine, Bride who will play there only European show this year, Narnia from Sweden, The Electrics, Split Level and many others. What are the top Christian albums of all time? It depends on what you mean by top. CCM Magazine, celebrating its 20th anniversary with a special July issue, contacted music critics and radio programmers and asked them to name their favorite albums. 13 Jul 1998 - GMA Adopts Gospel Music Definition
Is there anything Christian about Christian music? Faced with an increasingly blurry line between gospel music and wholesome-but-not-spiritual pop music, the Gospel Music Association (GMA) board of directors has adopted an official definition to be used in determining eligibility in its Dove Award competition. According to the new definition, gospel music is "music in any style whose lyric is: substantially based upon historically orthodox Christian truth contained in or derived from the Holy Bible; and/or an expression of worship of God or praise for His works; and/or testimony of relationship with God through Christ; and/or obviously prompted and informed by a Christian world view."
